Writing on the Wall is saying a heartfelt thank you to two exceptional long-standing trustees, Stuart Borthwick and Emy Onuora, who have stepped down from the Board following our annual festival in May.
Together, Stuart and Emy have contributed more than three decades of service to WoW, helping to guide, support and champion the organisation through some of its most exciting and transformative years.
Stuart first joined the Board in 2004 and has most recently served as Chair of Trustees. Over more than 20 years of dedicated service, he has been a passionate advocate for WoW’s work, providing wise counsel, unwavering support and a deep commitment to our mission of celebrating creativity, diversity and social justice through writing and storytelling. Stuart’s decision to step down follows an extraordinary period of service and comes as he manages ongoing health challenges.
Emy joined the Board in 2010 and has brought insight, experience and enthusiasm to the role for the past 15 years. His dedication to culture, community and equality has been a valued part of WoW’s journey, helping to strengthen our vision and impact across Liverpool and beyond. Emy is stepping down as he takes on a new professional role which will no longer allow him to devote the time and responsibilities required of a trustee.
Reflecting on their time with the organisation, both Stuart and Emy spoke of the pride they have felt in serving as trustees of Writing on the Wall and in being part of its remarkable journey.
Both leave with our sincere gratitude and with their warm wishes for WoW’s continued success in the years ahead.
At the same time, we have recently welcomed new trustees to the Board as part of an ongoing process of strengthening and refreshing our governance. This will ensure that Writing on the Wall is well equipped for the next stage of our development and ready to build on the strong foundations that Stuart, Emy and many others have helped to create.
Everyone at Writing on the Wall extends their heartfelt thanks to Stuart and Emy for their outstanding commitment, generosity and belief in what WoW can achieve. Their guidance, friendship and dedication have helped shape the organisation we are today.
We celebrate their contributions, thank them for all they have given to Writing on the Wall, and wish them both all the very best for the future.
