Writing on the Wall Co-Director Mike Morris, alongside Writer’s Bloc participants Dawn Reeves and Tommy Molloy, were delighted to attend the Amazon x Creative Industries Summer Reception at the National Theatre in London on 16 June.
As recipients of support from Amazon’s Regional Creatives Fund, we were proud to celebrate the partnership between Amazon and the UK’s creative sector, and to showcase the impact this support has had on our free writing centre, The Writer’s Bloc. Thanks to the Fund, we have been able to expand our provision and now deliver Writer’s Bloc sessions at Toxteth Library, Bootle Library and Birkenhead Library.
A particular highlight of the evening was seeing Dawn and Tommy’s writing printed and shared with guests attending the reception. We also had the opportunity to speak with Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy MP, bestselling novelist and Women’s Prize for Fiction co-founder Kate Mosse, and broadcaster Gaby Roslin. All were interested in learning more about Writing on the Wall, The Writer’s Bloc, and the outstanding writing being produced by our participants.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Amazon’s Regional Creatives Fund for their invaluable support, for hosting such a wonderful event, and especially to Amy, Dariga and the wider team for making us feel so welcome throughout the day.
The evening was a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in creative and cultural organisations, and of the transformative impact that opportunities such as The Writer’s Bloc can have on people’s lives and creative journeys.
