Lawrence Hoo is a Bristol-based poet and educator whose work throws light upon the life experiences of Britain’s marginalised communities. After a youth spent in and out of the care system, Lawrence has engaged with disadvantaged children of all age groups in schools as well as within the United Nations Habitat programme, the YMCA, Kids Company Academy and the Bath and NE Somerset Virtual School. Lawrence has published three poetry collections: Inner City Tales (2006), Hoostory (2011), and CARGO (2019) and as a public speaker Lawrence urges social change. He is a member of the University of Bristol’s Diversity Advisory Board and the Bristol Poetry Institute. Since 2007 Lawrence has collaborated with Creative Director Charles Golding and in 2019 they founded the company CARGO.
